　オーストラリアからはるばる都城市に宣教師としてきているジョンソンさん。文化交流の架け橋になってとお願いしましたら、快く承諾してくださり、記事を書いて下さることになりました。その第一回目です。英語のわかる方もわからない方も頑張って読んでみてくださいね。

My name is Elder Levi Johnson, from Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, and am in Kyushuu as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Right now I am in Miyakanojo working with the members of the Miyakanojo Ward, helping people, and teaching others our beliefs, as well as free english conversation classes for everyone.

I have found that Japan and Australia have alot of differences, but they also have alot of similarities. Miyakanojo, in particular, is quite different from the bigger cities, which is much akin to my hometown, Adelaide. A big difference is that Adelaide and Australia in general doesn't have many apartment buildings, except for in the main big cities. Most people live in houses, that they either own, or rent.

In Australia, people generally go to university in their home city; however, here in Japan, students go to different cities to study. Because of this, in Miyakanojo, there isn't as many college student age people around during school times of the year. However, there is a new college here which is starting to get more students, so that might change things. The fashion is also quite different, and also the general culture. However, they do have quite a bit in common.

There's nice people to be found everywhere, there's good resturants and good food (even though the food is different from Australia), and the atmosphere is alike; calm and collected. Which is a good thing. But everyone speaks Japanese, while in Australia they all speak English. It's all good though, my Japanese is slowly but surely getting better...
And Miyakanojo is a good place to live!
